Profit Point Releases a New Version of Profit Network

Profit Point has released Version 3.5 of its Profit Network™ optimization tool. Profit Network is a stand-alone planning software package that is used by manufacturing and distribution companies to design profitable supply chain distribution systems. Profit Network uses Dash Optimization’s Xpress-MP solver. The Xpress-Optimizer employs a sophisticated branch-and-bound algorithm to solve MIP and MIQP problems, and is particularly known for its ability to find high quality solutions fast, which is important when solving these types of problems.

Profit Network Version 3.5 can be used to analyze the placement and location of production facilities, distribution centers, and warehouses over a multi-period planning horizon. Profit Network is used to help firms restructure their supply chains after mergers, periods of rapid growth and in anticipation of geographic or product preference shifts in the market. New features in version 3.5 include:

• More comprehensive User-Controlled Mapping
• A visual interface to MapInfo Data
• More Multi-Time Period Problem Capabilities

Model results can be viewed as tables of flows and costs, in Microsoft Access or Excel, and the system provides a visual display of the manufacturing plant, warehouse, and customer locations in service regions using MS MapPoint, TourSolver or MapInfo. Profit Network is used for strategic and tactical planning and automatically generates optimal solutions in seconds, providing the user the capability to generate several scenarios over the course of a few hours.
