Xpress-MP licenses using 'Baby' dongles
24th October 2002
Dear Xpress-MP Customer
Some Xpress-MP licenses are secured to dongles
of a type known as a 'Baby' dongles. These dongles are numbered
in the ranges 2000-2499, 5000-6000, and 6450-6999.
We are in the process of phasing out Baby dongles
and may not be able to support them in future releases of Xpress-MP.
We are prepared to replace them now, free of charge,
either for a HASP dongle, or for a license file locked
to the ethernet address of your computer. This offer is made only
to customers on ASSC and we encourage you to take this up. Failure
to do so may result in problems when Xpress-MP or your operating
system, or both, is next upgraded. If, as a result of problems in
the future, we have to replace a Baby dongle, we will make an administration
charge of GBP 500 / USD 800 per dongle.
If you wish to have your dongle replaced please
send it by courier or recorded delivery to:

This procedure describes
how to obtain the host ID of a Windows PC. (Note that the ethernet
address is used as a host ID on Windows PCs, but the ethernet address
must be obtained using this procedure.)
Please carry this procedure out on each computer
for which you currently have a dongle-protected copy of Xpress-MP
covered by a current ASSC policy, and wish to exchange the dongle
for a xphostid-protected copy of Xpress-MP.
1. If you have installed Xpress-MP 2005 on your computer choose xphostid from the Start Menu.
If not, download the program 'xphostid.exe'
and save it to your computer. In Windows Explorer browse to the folder into which you saved the program and run it.
2. It will display a message of the form:
Xpress-MP host ID(s) of this machine:
mx0123456789ab
3. This is the information you need to submit
to Dash in order for Dash to issue you with a license file.
NB: The xphostid program is also available for
all other platforms we support. Please click
here for more information.
