Optimization for End Users
End users are people within an organization using
optimization directly to solve the problems of that organization.
Organizations use optimization to improve the quality of their own
decision-making. This includes all types of planning such as:
- Strategy
- Investment appraisal
- Purchasing and supply
- Operations planning
- Risk assessment
- Contingency planning
End Users also use optimization for decision support
at all levels and timescales.
Typically applications are built that take in
data from spreadsheets and databases. A very high degree of specialization
can be built to take advantage of the unique nature and opportunities
of an organization, knowledge that may be exclusively available
to end-users.
